Lee Carter, Principal

Lee began his career in the construction industry 30 years ago. He has experience with every aspect of day-to-day operations, as well as executive management. Carter Group was founded in 2004, and since its inception, Lee’s role has been to oversee the global development of the organization. This affords him the opportunity to share valuable expertise with younger professionals within the company. His extensive industry knowledge, focus on long-term relationships and commitment to quality have earned him the utmost respect of his associates, as well as other industry leaders.

Lee Carter is also involved in many professional and civic organizations and is a well-respected community leader. He holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee.

T. McGriff Irby, Managing Partner

Griff has over 25 years in the construction industry providing project management services for companies requiring design-build, general contracting, and construction management services. As the Managing Partner at Carter Group, Griff oversees the day-to-day operations, ensuring that each aspect of the company is running successfully. He is responsible for the selection and development of all project team members and the overall schedule and profitability of each completed project. Under his leadership, all projects are constructed at the highest safety and quality standards. His passion for building nurtures the company’s growth and progress.

His construction experience includes both new and renovation projects for heavy industrial manufacturing plants, hospitals, medical office buildings, country clubs, restaurants, and correctional facilities. He has served as superintendent, project engineer, and senior project manager with bottom-line accountability for the construction of all types of commercial and industrial projects with budgets in excess of $30 million. He has assisted clients in establishing program requirements and design parameters to meet their building needs and has coordinated multi-disciplined teams to accomplish these major projects.

He is the qualifying licensing agent in the States of Tennessee, Maryland, Florida, Utah, Alabama, Georgia, West Virginia, Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina, and North Carolina, and holds a Building Science degree from Auburn University.
