New pasta restaurant planned for Demonbreun strip.

Opening date is targeted for Spetember.

Renovation work to a 3,000-square-foot portion of an existing building at 1520 Demonbreun St. downtown will house a Mirko Pasta restaurant, according to a building permit issued June 20.

An opening date is targeted for September, according to Randy Fann of Spectracorp of TN. Construction cost listed on the permit is $210,000.

There are eight Mirko Pasta locations in Georgia, where two more are scheduled to open this summer according their office. The Nashville location would be the first franchise in Tennessee and outside Georgia. It's scheduled to open in mid-September.

Pasta Inc., a Tennessee Corporation, plans to open at least six Mirko Pasta restaurants in Middle Tennessee, according to its president Missy Johnson.

Lease negotiations are ongoing to open a second store in Mt. Juliet in late October, Johnson said.


5 Points animal hospital in works

A new 4,200-square-foot building at 1103 Woodland St. will include a local animal hospital in one space, according to a building permit issued June 17 to complete the shell area.

The building is targeting a fall completion date, according to Dana Neal, director of Business Development for Carter Group LLC.

The new animal hospital is named 5 Points, Neal said. Negotiations have been ongoing with a potential tenant for the other space. Construction cost is listed at just over $294,000, according to the permit.


Metro to renovate Emergency Communications Center

Interior renovations have been permitted for Metro Government's Emergency Communications Center at 2060 15th Ave. S. that will include converting a data center to office space.

The project involves: Moving Technology Center from Floor 2 to Floor 1; transforming the vacated Technology Center into an office for technology personnel; replacing an antiquated flooring system in the main 911 center; room for two additional dispatch positions for the proposed police precincts; replace electrical lighting
fixtures.

The permit was issued June 17. The tentative completion date is Aug. 8.


Werthan Granite to renovate existing building

A reconstruction project for Werthan Granite, 448 Chestnut St., is for interior improvements that will include a new showroom and sales offices.

The targeted completion date is Sept. 1, CEO Jeremy Werthan said. The cost, according to the building permit, is $300,000.

Downtown apartment complex gains permit for a foundation

An residential apartment complex named Eleven North at 200 11th Ave. N., in the old Polar Icehouse Storage facility was issued a building permit for a foundation only on June 23.


Renovations to a Mapco on Lebanon Pike

A building permit has been issued for a $150,000 renovation project to a Mapco convenience store at 1500 Lebanon Pike.

The construction will remodel the store and convert it into a Mapco Mart, store personnel said.

Additional parking for accounting firm

Work has started on additional parking and second floor office space at Cooper, Travis & Company, PLC., an accounting firm at 3008 Poston Ave.

The construction cost listed on the permit is just over $334,000.
